UNIS Hanoi Elementary
Tech @ UNIS Hanoi Elementary
We believe that when used appropriately, technology provides opportunities to support, engage, enhance and transform student learning. The Elementary school strives to create learning experiences where technology is integrated through all curriculum areas and are learned in meaningful ways in the context of classroom learning. We use a variety of multimedia resources such as Chromebooks, iPads and other mobile devices to equip students with the skills and knowledge they need as they prepare to learn and live productively in an increasingly digital world.
Our aspiration for tech integration comes from the ISTE Standards for students.
UNIS Hanoi Elementary has adopted a flexible learning model that encourages teachers to collaboratively identify and agree on the aims and uses of technology before integrating it in the classrooms. To provide more student support, the homeroom teachers work together with the Technology Coordinator in integrating technology into the curriculum..
Makerspace @ UNIS Hanoi Elementary
The Makerspace at UNIS Hanoi Elementary is a collaborative workspace where students, parents and teachers can come together to work towards solutions by making, tinkering and exploring tools from high tech to low tech.
At the core of every UNIS Hanoi maker is a mindset that is curious and internally motivated. With making, students are empowered to develop their sense of agency - to explore, create, discover and make their own way, regardless of physical constraints.2
What Are the Guiding Principles of Making?
Making is learning by doing.
Making is more than just arts, robotics, engineering or science. It is a transdisciplinary approach which combines these elements so students can explore, design and invent.
Design thinking provides a framework for an artistic or scientific way of thinking and making.
Making is hard fun, a way of engaging with challenging things.
Iteration is an important process in making and tinkering, because this is how we learn from our failures.
